Good article, however the cat anus isn’t the only instance of animal sphincters appearing in NES games… There’s also one on the pigs in Startropics.

Strange how a single, solitary pixel on a sprite can conjure up such unpleasant images… I’m not sure why the artists thought “Hm, this is really missing something… I know, gotta give ’em sphincters! People will be confused how these make-believe video game animals poop if I don’t add one!”
I was quick to qualify that it was the sole appearance with “as best as I can remember”. I figured there was probably at least one other instance that I was forgetting, and as it turns out there was. Both StarTropics games, actually, feature this. I will be updating the article soon to make reference to this.
Some things cannot be unseen once you see them.
